Our Mission is:

To serve the development of an intergenerational Queer community, through such activities as planned monthly intergenerational Friday evening events, offered off-site to the Queer and Allies communities; and to educate the Comox United Congregation on affirming ministry, through various engagement activities like Pride Parade and Pride in the Park, Pie Day film night, three Affirming Ministry services per year, workshops (Queer History & Culture, Queer Bible Study), worship (Queer Vespers) etc.

The “rainbows around the cross” logo marks Comox United as belonging to Affirm United Ministries, a community of over 300 churches and ministries across Canada that have actively committed to the full inclusion of people across the spectrum of gender, romantic and sexual diversity.

What started with a welcome has deepened over decades to embrace a richer understanding and appreciation of not only the LGBTQ++ spectrum, but also of the sacred diversity of creation, human and nonhuman, all of it bearing the image of God.

Whatever your gender(s), romantic orientation, pronouns, abilities, age, neurological style, economic status, cultural or racial identification, however you reach out to the Divine and wherever you are on your faith ’s journey, you are welcome, you are whole, you are holy.                                                                                                                                     
We lift up affirming ministry in worship about 4 times per year, including a PIE (Public, Inclusive, Explicit) service in March and a Pride Sunday in August,

Rainbow Gatherings

are monthly events, usually on the third Friday of the month from 7 – 9 PM, and are held at the Bayside Bistro, on Cliffe avenue, across from Driftwood Mall.

Oct. 16, Film Night - Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance

A documentary film about Queer life and the Issues that the community has to face

 

Nov. 20. Queer Improv – a leading Improv coach will help us all to participate

Facilitated improv evening – come as a participant or as part of the audience

 

Jan. 15, Games Night

Bring your favourite (easily learnable) board game or play one of ours

Feb 19, Spinning Love

Dr. Serena Patterson will help us share our love stories on a wide range of topics: first loves, unrequited loves, love of a pet, love of family,  love of an important mentor

PIE Day Film Screening of Will and Harper (comedian Will Farrel and writer Harper Steel, former SNL members).
