The United Church of Canada, a coming together of Methodists, Congregationalists and Presbyterians, was inaugurated on June 10, 1925 in a hockey arena — a very Canadian touch.
Participants were handed a 38-page order of service containing the full text of the liturgy, prayers, hymns, and music.
On Sunday, June 8, we will celebrate the UCC’s Centennial with a special service at St. George’s United in Courtenay at 10:30 a.m. that will bring together the people of Comox United, St. George’s United and Weird Church.
And, of course, it’s all about the United Church, so there will be food!
...followed by a national livestream at 2:30 pm.
That same day at 2:30 p.m. PDT, the United Church of Canada Centennial Celebration service will be held at Gower Street United Church in St. John's, Newfoundland. Be sure to tune into the livestream. Better yet, organize a livestream party with your friends and be part of this moment in our history.
You will find the livestreamed service here
