To the Congregation of Comox United Church,

St. George’s United Church has recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North to support Habitat’s latest housing project. This past summer, a ground breaking ceremony at 1375 Piercy Ave. in Courtenay kicked off the build of 12 new townhomes for working families with children.

We view these new homes in Courtenay West as an all round win-win for our neighbourhood. An empty lot will be beautified and utilized for much needed housing; families who were previously renting their accommodation will now have stability and security in future housingthat they will own; and children will be able to create a history of attending a local school and establishing long term friendships.

We are partnering with Habitat in our goal to raise enough money to provide 12 front doors for this complex. Doors of opportunity are opening for these new home owners and we want them to experience an “open door” welcome to our neighbourhood (as well as to our Christian Community at St. George’s!).

We are hosting a fundraising Dessert Party/Silent Auction on May 28th at 6:30pm and are asking for donated items to include in our auction. If you have any item(s) you would like to donate to our auction, please email us at [email protected]. We are looking for household items, artwork, toys, or other items in good condition. (Thanks but no clothing.)

We are happy to arrange pick up of your items. Please let us know if you would like to attend our event. You would be most welcome!
